16th July 2010
WOKINGHAM, UNITED KINGDOM and SEATTLE, WA, USA: July 16th, 2010: Open Systems Management ("OSM") today announced a new release of its identity management software - COSuser. This new release of the COSuser user provisioning software offers existing and new users of COSuser a significantly enhanced method of provisioning user accounts in a mixed UNIX and Linux environment.
Neil Chaney, CEO of Open Systems Management said, "This new release builds on COSuser 2.3 and is the result of some eighteen months of effort by our development team. It provides our end users with a number of new features, and significantly improved scalability. The new release also incorporates a number of improvements in the underlying infrastructure.”
Chaney went on to say, "The driving force behind the release was OSM’s awareness that our users were pushing the previous version of COSuser to its limits. At least one of our user organizations is using COSuser to provision in excess of a thousand servers, and this involves a level of scalability not previously envisioned."
The new software incorporates a number of “under the hood” enhancements, including improvements that will increase reliability, security, and speed as well as the aforementioned scalability.
The most noticeable changes are those to the transaction engine which is used to “explode” individual tasks into their component transactions and schedules their implementation, and to the back end database.
Chaney concluded “The new transaction engine which is now based on our cosbatch job scheduling software, is one of the most noticeable features of this release. It replaces the previous transaction engine in full and provides us with the ability to scale in a controlled manner. This, combined with the enhancements at the database level, will allow us to service end user organizations at the highest end of the market.”
